I'm Ross

I’ve had an interesting life.

I’ve made money and lost it. Built businesses, watched some succeed and others fail. I’ve made some very good decisions and some spectacularly poor ones. I’ve loved, worried, started again, changed my mind and occasionally discovered that something I was absolutely certain about wasn’t quite so certain after all.

Along the way, I’ve also noticed something.

We have a remarkable ability to make life more complicated than it needs to be.

We chase things we think will make us happy. Worry about things that never happen. Argue about things that don’t matter. Measure success by standards we didn’t create and sometimes become so busy living that we forget to notice the life we’re actually having.

I didn’t create Affluent Journey because I think I’ve worked life out.

I haven’t.

I created it because after a lifetime of living, succeeding, failing, learning and occasionally getting things completely wrong, there are things I’ve come to see differently — about money, happiness, relationships, success, getting older, and what actually makes a life feel rich.

This is simply a place to talk about some of them.

Not as lessons.

Not as rules.

Just conversations.
